Catholic Sisters Lead Early Childhood Development
In the communities of Namwera and Monkey Bay, 12 Catholic Sisters are making a significant impact on Early Childhood Development (ECD), thanks to training from HIFA Consultants on proposal writing and governance. With the skills gained, the sisters responded to a call for proposals by Tilitonse Fund, crafting a project aimed at training caregivers to improve childcare in Mangochi district.
Their proposal was successful, securing funding for the first phase of the project. This phase focused on training caregivers at Community-Based Childcare Centers (CBCCs), equipping them with essential skills to provide quality education and care for young children. The initiative has already brought positive changes, enhancing the learning environments and experiences for many children in the district.
Building on this success, the sisters have developed a second proposal, which has been submitted to Tilitonse Fund for funding. The proposed second phase aims to expand the project by including advanced training for caregivers, provision of indoor and outdoor play materials for 50 selected CBCCs, and the implementation of a robust monitoring and evaluation system to ensure long-term impact and sustainability.
Through their dedication and strategic approach, the Catholic Sisters are leading a grassroots movement to transform early childhood education in Mangochi. Their work highlights the power of well-executed community projects to create lasting change and improve lives. As they await approval for the next phase, their efforts continue to inspire hope and progress in the communities they serve.
